Honey is a natural healthy sweetener made by the alchemy of bees collecting nectar, pollen and resins from flowers. Honey has a number of beauty benefits, it can help moisturize, fight ageing, acne and also bacteria.  Plus, it’s loaded with nutrients, antioxidants, and healing compounds.

Honey is literally a miracle cure. The very notion that bees can produce such sweet nectar is quite astounding itself. But the fact that honey can be used to cure acne, fight infections, condition hair and soothe ailments is just amazing.

The benefits of honey are endless. Has your mum ever told you to drink hot water with lemon and honey to help heal a sore throat? That’s because honey has incredible antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that stop infections and bacteria in its tracks. Honey also contains anti-inflammatory properties that stop redness and swelling caused by acne or other nasty infections. Like I said, it’s a miracle cure.

Here are just 5 ways that honey will enhance your beauty routine. From hair to skin to nails, it will help EVERYTHING.

1. Honey Face Mask

As mentioned previously, honey helps combat acne if used consistently. This mask will fight your acne (whether it’s cystic or blackheads) and create softness while the oats help stop redness and inflammation.

How to do it: Mix 2 tablespoons of oats with 3 tablespoons of raw honey. Mix together and apply to your face. Leave on for 15-20 minutes and gently remove with warm water and washcloth. Use once or twice a week and notice baby smooth skin and fewer breakouts!

2. Honey Facial Scrub

Honey isn’t just filled with anti-inflammatory properties but with antioxidants and enzymes too! These nutrients help nourish, cleanse, and hydrate skin. Add a little baking soda to help remove dead skin cells and you end up with a radiant complexion.

How to do it: Mix 2 tablespoons of raw honey with 1 tablespoon baking soda. Splash your skin with water, then gently rub the concoction on your face or body in a circular motion. Rinse well with warm water and finish with a moisturizer. Use this every week to get rid of dead skin cells.

3. Honey Cuticle Moisturizer

In addition to nourishing skin, did we mention that honey is a natural humectant? That means it draws moisture into the skin. Perfect if you have dry or lackluster skin. When you combine honey with coconut oil and apple cider vinegar, your skin will be conditioned, protected from the environment and pH balanced.

How to do it: Mix 1 teaspoon of raw honey with 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon of organic coconut oil. Rub over each cuticle and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then rinse. Do this twice a month for super soft cuticles.

4. Honey Hair Mask

With all of those important nutrients, of course, honey is beneficial to hair too. Honey adds nutrients to your hair shaft as well as repair broke shafts and ends. Coconut oil helps moisturize hair and hair roots. This two combined help to add more shine and make your hair less weighed down.

How to do it: Mix 1/4 cup of raw honey and 3 tablespoons of warmed coconut oil. Combine the coconut oil and honey and blend thoroughly. Work into damp hair after you shampoo. Let sit for 10 minutes, and then rinse with warm water. Don’t use any extra conditioner. Do this once every two weeks for super soft and nourished hair!

5. Honey Bath Soak

Honey’s not just hydrating and conditioning; the antioxidants loaded in honey will repair skin and protect it from oxidation and environmental damage.

How to Do it: Mix two heaping tablespoons of raw honey with one cup hot water until dissolved. Add to a tub of warm water and soak for as long as you can stand it. Lather yourself up with lotion and do once a month (or as much as you’d like) for an incredible skin.
