Olive oil contains some natural antioxidants that help prevent ageing, it also contains squalene; a natural moisturizer. Here are five ways you can include olive oil in your beauty regimen. Back when I was younger I used to think olive oil was just for anointing and deliverance (lol) until recently when oils started garnering much more attention in beauty and skin care, especially in Nigeria. Then I was exposed to the numerous qualities and uses of olive oil. Olive oil can be used in your beauty routine in the following ways:
Olive oil can be used to remove face and eye makeup. It’s a better option because it’s chemical free unlike store-bought makeup removers and it won’t strip your face of its natural oils. Just apply a little over your make-up, then place a steamed towel over your face or apply mildly hot water to the towel, squeeze and put it over your face for 1-2 mins, gently clean off any left-over oil with the face towel.
Olive oil can be used as a hair mask especially when pre-pooing i.e. before you shampoo. Warm the oil in hot water and apply to your hair for about 10-30 minutes before shampooing. It helps condition the hair. It can be used as a hair serum as well to add shine to dull hair.
Olive oil works wonders for the skin. For soft and supple skin, you can add a few teaspoons of extra-virgin olive oil to your bath water. Or massage a bit of olive oil into your skin before taking a bath to leave your skin texture feeling smooth.
